ESG Secure Solutions
ESG Secure is hot on security
Through extensive research and development, ESG’s in-house experts have developed a range of security laminated glass products, which have been tested approved by leading independent assessment centres.
ESG developed its ESG Secure range in response to customer need to meet evolving legislation and Building Regulations. Products include security glass and fire resistant security glass made to exacting standards in ESG’s own manufacturing facility. This is the only glass of its kind to be approved by Secured by Design, the initiative from the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) for the protection that it affords against burglary and vandalism.
There are two types of ESG secure product; ESG Secure EN356, developed and approved to the latest BS EN356 standard for resistance to manual attack; and ESG Secure LPS 1270, devised to meet the requirements of the new Loss Prevention Standard LPS 1270, which was introduced by the Loss Prevention Certification Board to ensure protection against terrorist or determined criminal attack.

> ESG Secure EN356
ESG Secure EN356 is a highly secure glass created to provide maximum protection against deliberate attack. Designed to protect both people and property from harm from vandals ESG Secure will also resist intrusion by professional burglars and thieves. By combining laminated panels bonded together, with one or more specialist interlayers, ESG can create the exact specification of glass required, in accordance with the level of security required.
For applications where fire resistance is also required, combined with added security, ESG has developed ESG Pyrotech™ Secure EN356, part of its highly acclaimed fire resistant security glass range, to provide resistance to fire and attack in a single highly technical product. ESG Pyrotech™ Secure EN356 is also fire rated to E30 Ew15 in timber doors and timber and steel screens, and to E60 Ew15 for use in steel screens.

> ESG Secure LPS 1270
ESG Secure LPS 1270 is a new product, developed to meet the demands of the new LPS 1270 draft standard introduced in 2009. Items such as doors and windows can already be tested to LPS 1175 to provide secure products for properties, but the introduction of a specific LPS 1270 glass means that ESG can provide an approved panel for any LPS 1175 compliant product without compromising its approval status. This new glass is also lighter, thinner, and therefore easier to handle and install than other comparable products, which are currently only available from outside the UK.
LPS 1270 involves vigorous testing in three stages, designed to simulate three possible types of attack against the glazed areas of a property. The process also tests resistance against a wide range of tools, all of which could be used in burglaries, serious crimes against property, or acts of terrorism.
ESG also provides ESG Pyrotech™ Secure LPS 1270 fire resistant safety glass, to combine fire resistance with serious crime prevention properties in a single product. It is fire rated to E30 Ew15 in timber doors and timber and steel screens, and to E60 Ew15 for use in steel screens.
Applications – ESG Secure LPS 1270
- External doors and windows in high security commercial and public sector premises
- Premises which require protection from determined intruders
- Security screens in detention centres and prisons
- Screening in mental health facilities at risk from accidental damage and challenging behaviour
- Glazing for displays of high value items
- Aquaria and zoos
- Viewing panels in secure areas in potential terrorist targets; such as water treatment plant inspection panels
- Areas which represent a potential target for the ‘professional’ criminal
- Areas at risk from extreme vandalism
